Steering Head Bearing Drift

Steering Head Bearing Drift

This simple tool is invaluable when removing steering head bearings from the frame. It is simplicity itself, but saves a huge amount of time and effort. The pre-tensioned legs grip the outer tube while the 'feet' sit on the bearing shell. A few bangs with a hammer the bearing drifts out squarely without getting stuck from un-even drifting from the more traditional bearing removal methods previously employed.

This tool is available in two sizes 26mm - 35mm and 30mm - 50mm. The larger is suitable for the majority of large bikes.

Fork Oil Level Setting Tool

Fork Oil Level Setting Tool

Setting the fluid level in front forks accurately is critical to the safe handling of your bike and this tool makes it a piece of cake.

The vast majority of workshop manuals will give you an air height for the fluid level ie the measurement from the top of the fork tube to the fluid level often with spring out and the fork at maximum compression. You simply tighten up the setting screw on the aluminium ring at the correct air height, fill the fork tube to approximately the correct height, by eye and then a little bit more. Push the metal tube into the fork leg and suck the excess fluid out using the syringe; when the fluid is at the correct height the syringe will start to suck air instead of suspension fluid. You then move to the next leg safe in the knowledge that both legs will contain exactly the same height of fluid.

Our experience is that the syringes with this product don't last forever with the interaction with suspension fluid and we would advise you to clean it out thoroughly after use. The syringe can be exchanged for a vacuum brake bleeding tool. The syringes on the professional version last much longer, so if you are stripping a lot of forks it is a better buy.

Fork Damper Rod Tool

Fork Damper Rod Tool

This tool is used on more modern forks (Right Way Up (RU) and Up Side Down (USD)) to hold the damper road especially for the bleeding of air out. It also aids the damper rod retieval after spring installation. The tool includes a bleed port to prevent oil splatter. It has four hex adapters to cover the vast majority of forks on more modern bikes - M10 x 1.0, M12 x 1.0, M12 x 1.25 and M14 x 1.0.

With modern forks it's pretty much impossible to service the forks, change seals without.
