When you work on more modern forks this simple tool is invaluable. In the photo, to the left, we show it being used to hold up the damper on a modern right way up fork, so that the fork top can be removed and replaced with the damper rod tool. Without it we used to find this job very tricky - dropping the damper rod inside is a major pest! It is also a must for rebuilding USD forks.

Fork top are usually made of aluminium and often coloured anodised, which looks terrible if it's butchered like the one below from ZRX1200R. This tool is designed for assembly and dismantling of fork caps, especially Öhlins.
It has a knurled exterior to add nut spinning and has a rubber scratch protector to protect the fork cap. It can be used either with a 1/2" drive socker set tool or a 24mm socket or spanner. The four locating pins are 3.5mm diameter. Th einternal diameter is 35.5mm and the external is 42.3mm

This tool is used to hold the damper rod still in forks when dismantling, so that the bottom bolt can be undone. Once the bottom bolt, usually a cap screw, is released the fork stanchions can be remoced from the bottom slider. This tools is commonly used on various KX, Z and KZ Kawasaki models.

The back takes a 3/8" drive socket bar.

The cone is from 10.5 - 17.8mm
